Maths

We are going to be using an exciting new maths website during maths in class and you will also be able to use this at home (for up to 2 activities).

You may need to get an adult or older brother or sister to help you get in with the passwords.

I am looking forward to seeing this tool in action!  You can get to it by looking under the numeracy games on the right hand side of our blog.

We are learning about fractions!!

Today we had to cut a piece of fairy bread into half 1/2 to share between 2 people and then we had to cut a piece into quarters 1/4 to share between four people.
Here are some pictures of us:

Sam and Jante made 1/2

Ellie, Damien, Sophie and Hannah make 1/4

We know that when you cut something in half 1/2 there are 2 pieces that are the same size.

And when you cut something into quarters 1/4 there are four pieces all the same size:

Working together in groups we moved around a couple of "stations" where we had to use cards to answer the questions.  The questions were: find the largest number, put in order to count backwards, put the cards from smallest to largest, Largest to smallest and find the number that comes before; 5, 3, 6, 8, 9.

Here are some photos of us:

Yesterday we looked at showing a problem in different ways.
